OTARI mx 5050 REEL TO REEL HELP PLEASE ..

Hello, I just bought an Otari mx5050 II and the left motor spins faster then the right when in play mode causing the tape to unwind. Am I doing something wrong or Is something broken ? I know nothing about this as this is my first reel to reel. Someone please help .. Thank you.

Can you take a picture to show how you have the tape threaded?

Also, is the capstan turning? That would be the pin the rubber pinch roller engages on to.

Ouch... I also have a Otari MX5050 two track. I'll chime in if I see anything I can help with.

Is the Edit button pushed? Is this a 2 track BII or what model? If so then the Edit function (I believe) has a green light. It should be off for normal play.
