Orginal Mackie CR 1604 BUY IT YES OR NO?

I just wanna say Hello

this is my 1st post on here and far from my last
I have found an origal Mackie CR 1604, the person how I am buying it from used it for live shows and hasn't used it in 2 years. My question is should I pay the $300 he is asking for it or save my money and spend it on a newer version of the board. I am going to be usin the board in my home studio to run my mpc 2000 into my roland vs 880ex.

Sounds like a decent deal. Check out Ebay to see what they are going for. I believe the nex gen VLZ boards are preferred for quiter preamps but some people I know liked the original better.
 
The original 1604 only came with 6 (or was it 8?) mic preamps, if you wanted the full 16 you had to add on an expander, so make sure this board has it.
