Has anyone used an Orb drive? I am using Cubase VST/24 on a Mac G3.... any experience with them? Or possible issues that you think may arise with them (availability of media, etc)?

I've never used an orb drive, but I'm a bit wary of any sort of proprietory drive. These manufacturers tend to come and go relatively frequently, taking support with them.

Syquest had a ton of quite reasonable drives, but ceased to exist (and the media is now practically impossible to get your hands on). Iomega Zips are good cos they're getting towards universal, but that's more due to marketing than anything else (I've had a Zip drive since they were first released). The LS-120 Imation drives showed some promise, but seemed to kind of quietly disappear into the background (they are still a reasonable unit though)

The issue tends to be market share more than anything when it comes to 'better' forms or removable media. Kind of like the Beta/VHS dramas of the '80's

What would you be using the Orb drive for? If you backing up data, get a tape drive (slower, but the media is easily available and the capacity is huge - up to 24Gb/tape). If you're transferring data around a large number of machines, use a CD-burner, cos everybody has got a CD-ROM. Problem here is the cost of the media. Use an Orb drive for more specialist purposes - eg transferring large chunks of data between home and office, or between a select circle or people.
