Hi,

What are my options or proper ways to connect 1/4TRS plugs from keyboards, synths, and samplers to a mixer that only has rca inputs?

Thanks in advance!

1/4" to RCA adapters or use a patch bay. TRS is a balanced mono or unbalanced stereo connector and RCA is a mono unbalanced connector. Are you sure your keyboards use TRS and not TS? TS is more common for keyboards.

Actually, Tex, these days most high end keyboards have balanced outputs that also accept unbalanced cables.

I've never seen a 1/4" to rca adapter. In that situation, I use rca cables with rca to 1/4" adapters. Those can be found anywhere.

At any rate, use 1/4" to RCA cables or adapter...easy enough to find at any music shop or radio snack.

I got a couple adapters kicking around, Radio Shack Item.

Thanks All!

"RCA is a mono unbalanced connector"

BTW, I thought RCA connections were balanced?
Guess I learned something new today..

Well they are 1/4" phone plugs, and the female source im plugin them into is unbalanced, so.....um?

Sounds like you need to do some connector study:

1) RCA is NEVER balanced.

2) 1/4" can be balanced or unbalanced. The way to tell is there is an extra "stripe" (usually a thin black ring) on the balanced connectors, which divides the plug into three sections (tip-ring-sleeve = TRS). An unbalanced cable will have a plug that has no "stripe" in the middle - just tip-ring (TR).
