Optical or Analog !!

i'm trying to decide... Will the DRUMS sound better..

Going out of my Focusrite OctoPre thru the optical out into my 001 card optical on the computer .....OR........

Going out the 25 pin out of the OctoPre via the "Hosa Digital Multi-Track Snake Cable - 4m (8 Stereo 1/4 inch Metal to 25 Pin) (Model DTP804)"

Looking for a punchy/ clear sound, but don't want them sounding thin...... rock drums over loops for pop tunes... ANY help??

Is this an analog out going to some other A/D? Either way it's going to get digiated right? Which converter sound better?

How many tracks are you sending at once? You can only get 2 into the 001 with the SPDIF cable.

If you really want to know which is the best quality then try it and see and you can tell us.

I would suggest that you leave them in the digital realm, because you will be converting the drums twice just trying to get them into the computer.

It doesn't make sense to go A/D then D/A, then A/D again, just to get the drums into the computer.

I agree, if it has to go digi do it as early as possible.
