Kinda' sucks. Great D.I. for bass or keys, though.

They're both pretty normal. Only one's got a tube in it and the other doesn't.

I find them usuable - but I dont know if i would have paid that much for it. The regular tube MP sells regularly here in Canada for 69$ - thats what, 55 US? My guess is that you would get as much use out of a regular tube mp as the V3...

whats a D.I.? direct input?

whats a tube?

DI is direct injection. There are two general types, active and passive. DI's are used to connect electric guitars and basses to a line level input. Basically they're impedence matching transformers that convert a high-impedence load (like a guitar pickup) into a low-impedence load so you can run a guitar signal through the preamp of a mixer.

Tubes are vacuum tubes. They're what were used for amplifying electronic signals before transistors were invented.

ok thanks, will i plug my headphones to the out jack of the pre or straight into my 2496?

is it really that hard of a question?
or will i have to find out the hard way?

plug your pre into your soundcard. don't plug your phones into your pre!

so the mic goes to the pres input, the out goes into the soundcard's in and the soundcard's out is my headphones?
