As some of you know I do a lot of FOH work with local Rock/Blues bands. At present for all the Jam/Showcase events I use a Berry UB2442 desk and I have to admit that I would love something with a bit more "class".
Can anyone who owns an Onyx or had first hand experience of them give me some pointers as to their suitability/quality.

I would be after the 1620 as 8 mic pre's is all I require, I have a much larger desk for all the paying jobs. I just get Beer & Crisp (chips) money for the Jam nights

I've A/B the Onyx and Soundcraft M series and the Soundcraft came out way on top. The Soundcraft pres and Eq are a lot better and it cost less. With the Soundcraft M you also direct outs which are pre/post EQ switchable. The pres in the Soundcraft M series are the same design as those found in the Ghost.

Mackie is way over rated.

I had an earlier Spirit FX model that I never really got on with but will take a look at the M series.

Thank you for the advice,

Tony

I'll look into the M series also, I need a serious board and serious dollar value. Something i won't out grow too quickly, I look at mackie but the tag is a little over the top.

Thanks

I have decided on an Allen & Heath PA20 , wish me luck?
