Online or outdoor advertising?

Which do you think can be more effective for a local music band - online or outdoor advertising? Walking advertising billboards in crowded areas is cool right? I used to see many such walking video billboards of Wild on Media company in Toronto . What is your opinion?

"Walking video billboards"? Must be a canadian thing! I can't imagine people seeing a streaming video (on the sidewalk) and thinking "Hey i'm going to go to that show tonight!"

Are you trying to get people into a venue to see you play? Develop a mailing list, put announcements up in every appropriate facebook group (there are many in my area).

I thought it read "Online outdoor advertising" like hacking a traffic messaging sign..

Doesn't Toronto have a pretty serious problem with much of its outdoor advertising being illegal and an eyesore? Maybe go with comparably annoying web ads instead.

While I've never heard of or seen walking video billboards in a crowd, a local band should do a combo of online and offline advertising. Like playing at venues when possible and engaging with fans on social media. Most importantly, sounding good and figuring out what group of people your music appeals to. All things easier said than done.
