I know you all are sick to death of this question, but I really need some input. I need a compressor that can be used across the mix, what are some good compressors to go with? How much do I have to spend to get a good compressor (not the best, mind you...but good)?

I'd go with an Alesis 3630.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously guys...Even if I have around $600 to spend, should I get an RNC???

Absolutely... unless you need more features (such as gates, dual mono processing, etc...) which the RNC doesn't have...

Bruce

And even then you could buy two for $400
For dual proc. that is

Across a mix I find that I need a three-band compressor. I haven't tried the RNC, though, maybe it's good enough even though it's just one band. Today I use a Nord Modular for that, and is makes a good job. (You could use a Micro Modular, which is much cheaper).
Haven't tried any other three-band compressors though, so I don't know how they compare.

Reg... Reg... Reg...

...have I taught you NOTHING?????????

You want, no, NEED an RNC - you get one, and I promise you'll never look at another multi-band again!

:D

OK...
FMR Audio finally has a distributor here in Sweden now, so... I'm gonna get one, but I still need monitors, a mixer and a good reverb more, so I'll guee it willtake a year or two before I buy it. The modular still is better than the rest of my stuff. :)
