If I were you, I'd just keep using the onboard card and save my cash for a better card. Only reason to get a SB, I think, would be the LiveDrive interface. Not worth $100. Save up another $100 and get something from M-Audio
The cheapest thing I've seen that looks interesting is that Tascam US-122. $200. Dunno how great the thing is but it's got inserts. Just what I was looking for so I can hook up my kick ass 3630. I've actually made some sorda decent sounding music with a built in AC97 (gasp) audio though. Latency is measured in decades, but a little editing after laying a track down solves that prob.
That's no good reason at all, not even considering that the version with Live Drive is twice as much as the one without. The Sound Font synth is the real reason it's worth buying.
