all up in yo grill!
i'm using the onboard audio on my comp....cant afford anything else over 100....would it be so bad to get a soundblaster for a better recording for the time being?

No, it wouldn't be so bad at all... but maybe even your current onboard sound device will suffice.

If I were you, I'd just keep using the onboard card and save my cash for a better card. Only reason to get a SB, I think, would be the LiveDrive interface. Not worth $100. Save up another $100 and get something from M-Audio :D

The cheapest thing I've seen that looks interesting is that Tascam US-122. $200. Dunno how great the thing is but it's got inserts. Just what I was looking for so I can hook up my kick ass ;) 3630. I've actually made some sorda decent sounding music with a built in AC97 (gasp) audio though. Latency is measured in decades, but a little editing after laying a track down solves that prob.

That's no good reason at all, not even considering that the version with Live Drive is twice as much as the one without. The Sound Font synth is the real reason it's worth buying.

Yeah...but for us guitarists, that's not much of an incentive either ;)

Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is a decent step up for very little $$$$.....usually less than $50........

Of course it is... Soundfonts are great! Haven't you heard about MIDI-guitars? :D

Seriously. You need drums and other instruments for a tune to sound good, you know...

But don't get a SB card. Use the Livesynth Pro. ;)
