Hey guys, I have an old Marshall amp that still sounds great (speaker and such ar ein good condition)....the only problem is that its been sitting around for so long that the pots and such are pretty scratchy.

Anyone have any ways to clean these out to eliminate that noise or is it hopefless now?

Cleaning pots is actually very easy, but you should take it to a tech if you are unsure. The filter caps inside a tube amp hold lethal voltages for quite some time even after the amp is uplugged from the wall. A once over at a shop is quite cheap, and any potential problems would be noticed by a good tech before they become catastrophic.

CAIG make some of the best products for cleaning electronic gear, sorry I don't have a link to their website but they do have a lot of useful info about the application of their various products, etc.

If it has not been used for some time get it serviced, the caps do die from lack of use and old age and that can seriously fuck up your amp.
