Oktava MK319

OK. Does anyone have/use one of these, or has done in the past and can give me any sort of recommendation or otherwise? I've heard they're pretty good, and was planning to use 2 for overheads, but I want to see what people know and think. If you have any clips, that would be great!

I have an old MC319... it doesn't work for everyone, but I keep it around because 'sometimes' it works great... I like AKG451 overheads.
 
I've heard the 451's are good, but the price is collosal from what I've seen, well on my budget anyhow
 
Then checkout the Oktava MC-012's. Oh, and you really need killer preamps and A/D coverters if you want to get the most out of your mic's. ;)

Yo CanopuS! Most people (not all, by any means), especially those on a budget, use small diaphragm condensers for overheads, and large diaphragms for vocals. The crowd seems split on acoustic guitar, where you can use 1 SD, 2 SD's, 1 LD, or one of each, in different positions.
The MK319 is a dark, smooth, mic, very useful for strident singers, especially some women. As I saw you've observed in another thread, as Guitar Center starts to blow them out, along with the MC012, which is a bang-for-buck all star, they're getting hard to come by. You can't get them cheap on line. You have to call a GC that still has them, then show up in person and shake them down. Audition the mic in the store, and make sure it works, as QC has been an Oktava issue. The ones that do work, work very well. Good Luck-Richie
 
My 319 is like butter on my voice for ballads, but for my Seger/Melloncamp like stuff its not so good.
 
The 319 is one of my very favorite vocal mics. Rarely have I prefered it on other sources though. For what it's worth, I once set up the 319 for vocal and a KM-184 on an acoustic for a guy who had to play while he sang. I ended up useing only the 319 track (which had the vocal and the leakage from the guitar). The guitar leaking into the 319 sounded better than the KM-184 for the track. That being said, I still prefere a small diaphram condensor generally speaking for acoustic instruments.
