I was really startled at Angus McKay's hysterics on r.a.p a few months back.
Curiously, the new stock of ASM Oktavas come with no documentation or warrantee information of any kind. Just the mic and mount in a zipper case made of singularly stinky Russian plastic.
How do you get GC to let you audition a bunch of Octavas in the store? I am lucky to get the attention of a sales clerk for more than 2 minutes let alone get them to hook up a bunch of mics for me to test.
So... I see you're from the Boston area too. I know what you mean about the sales staff at GC (I shop in Danvers). It took a lot of patients to finally figure out who my friends were in there. Most times I'll call ahead to make sure the right people are there. I can't understand how some of those SFBs (Shit for Brains) can make a living being so rude and never hooking you up, or giving you a break on price. There're a few in there I will not do business with...
I've built relationships with a couple of "Friends" in Pro Audio, one in Assessories, and another in Drums. Not to mention both sales managers.
You don't want to know how much money I had to spend to achieve that.
