No clue how this particular gobo/reflextion filter/mic shield sounds when recording vocals, but I figure I could try to use multiple layers of absorbant material (here read my leftover cheap foam wedges) with air gaps in between (a la reflexion filter) using silicon caulk beads as spacers between layers of "absorbant material".
When I saw the width of those 5 gallon paint grids I decided to use 4 of them instead of 2. This way I can use 2 wide and stack the other 2 on top. I'll try using zip ties to keep the "grid frame" together. I figure that this can't sound any worse than the VoxGuard did (it used a rigid plastic frame).
I'm not expecting SE Electronics Reflexion Filter quality; but if I can get rid or those "back-wall reflections" (the wall behind the mic), I'll be happy. If I can filter out PC and fridge noise, I'll be even happier. And if it actually sound good, I'll be laughing!
