I always recommend books to newbies as a good starting point. Go to Amazon and search for "Dictionary".

Ummm. That pretty mean thing to say and not very helpful at all. LOL!!

You might get better results if you did a search for "free daw" in google

daw = "digital audio workstation"
http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=SUNA,SUNA:2006-09,SUNA:en&q=free+daw

The only one I can think of is cakewalk, but I don't think they give that one away anymore.

Another option is although you say you have no money. I know if you go on ebay right you could probably pick up and really old copy of cubase 3.55 for really cheap the bid is currently at $3.89. You probably won't have much competition for it either and cubase is a very respectable program to use even for this version that's really old.

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle="cubase+vst"

Although it is somewhat dated it was one of the very first version I use when I started recording on the pc. Plus if you look hard enough on the internet you might still be able to find a couple of free updates for it, but you'll never know until you start searching the internet.

here are some good site to search on:
http://www.google.com
http://www.yahoo.com
http://www.askjeeves.com
http://www.webcrawler.com
http://www.altavista.com

Also I was just looking, but there is also a newer version of cubase VST 5(less older) on ebay. You should try to get that copy. I know you can still get updates on the steinberg websites.

Since I use a similar version of it.

Good Luck!! :D

I'm too lazy to get you a direct link, but I know google is your friend and you will use it for your progression in the music society.

That said, I recommend using Audacity, it's free, it works, and it has quite a few little functions you can add to your vocals. But, Cubase is a really good recommendation as well, I've used both and Cubase pwn's it. But.. You asked for free, so I recommended free. I even use Audacity :)

Hope this helps.

Yea thanks audicity is good
I like it,its working perfect u know

Yea but check dis out,is it ight if i use a computer mic u kno the ones u buy at like wal mart nd shit,do they work?
I probaby need a new 1 hahahaha

ight yo thanks alot for the help

Depends what kind of quality you want. Quality costs. Fact of life.

Rather than Audacity I'd recommend Kristal at kreatives.org
I've got Cubase LE but I use Kristal more often, just because it's so comfortable for me.
Also, google Hammerhead for making beats, it's crazy easy.
Don't get a mic at Wal-Mart unless you want to sound like cheap plastic crap. If you're ONLY doing vox with a mic, you could get a USB mic but it'd make more sense to go get yourself a cheap condenser, like an MXL 990, and a cheap USB interface. You can get them as low as $50 or something crazy like that.

Ight yo, u needa fst hustle sum cash dolla $$ n get that green den u grab yo self da softwarez and install em n use da mic fo now. until u gotz sum mo $$ and cop sum better gear to make sum bangin' ass hits son. Fo realz

You do know you can just type your words out not how you speak in real life right? :D

That hurts just to look at.

get Reaper. it's practically free at $40 and you're probably never gonna outgrow its capabilities.

Or use all three: Audacity, Kristal, and Reaper. They all have their benefits. I generally go with Kristal, but the other two rule.

In the newbie forum, why not? Doesn't hurt to be polite.

Im sittin here at my job... software engineering... that gave me a chuckle.

A computer mic isn't going to do much for ya, but its a place to start I suppose.

This whole thing smells like a phishing expedition.
