Ok everyone. I'm going to take the plunge here and share some of my stuff.

Thanks for this tip. The few free plugins for autotune and even the premium ones are often psychotic in Cubase. With the exception of the limiter, all the plugins I use are native Cubase 4 plugins.
 
I think that once you learn MIDI it will make your life a lot easier and speed up your workflow. You could just move the MIDI notes down an octave, choose a different softsynth and mix to taste.

Keep at it. You've got a good foundation to work with.
 
Ok I messed with one of the songs you guys heard a bit. As I explained before, the raps are supposed to have that dry, talking effect. There's nothing I can do about the female vocals for now so bare with me.

It does sound better after I doubled the instruments and beat and eq-ed them slightly differently.

Check out upgrading to Cubase 5 full version, it has vari-audio a great easy to use pitch correction program built into the editing. Pitch correction will not only make your recording listenable, but it would be a great learning tool for you and your singer. Note: some auto-tune programs will sound very fake. Invest in a good pitch editing software so you can bring out the composition. Now they are so far out its hard to tell what the intended melody is. Sounds like there's a cute song there.

im on my netbook so no listening today...

just remember that duplicating tracks only makes them louder...giving you the impression that they are fatter, theyre not...

to layer you need to use different sounds/patches, detune, or play in lower or higher octaves, as well as EQing etc...duplication, even using the haas effect, has very little positive effects with synths...you could just use a stereo expander and get the same effect
