after searching for some desktop monitors that are in my price range, I have found the RolandED MA 10D digital desktop reference monitors...

24/96 DA convertors
digital SPDIF and optical inputs
45Hz - 35kHz frequency response
shielded for video interference (monitors/TV/lights)

at about $140 a pair these seem to be some good desktop reference monitors... and about all I can afford too...

they are on http://www.edirol.com

what do some of you gurus think?

Im no Guru....

But.....

I would say, Grab a pair of Yorkville YSM1's instead........

(in my opinion)

well you see...

Like I said I need a pair of powered montiors that are properly sheidled for desktop audio and video...

the YSM1's are not powered and the powered version of them is way outta my range...

those Edirol's wont do a good job for serious audio production...youll do better with a home stereo system....youll do even better taking a home stereo reciever and powering some decent passive monitors with them....i got a pair of Tannoy ProtoJ's for $175.....whats with the big shielding issue?.....

well I not into serious audio production... just currently as a hobbyist and for my own personal gain.

I want monitors that are shielded for video... the audio monitors will be sitting very close to computer monitors (maybe beside them even), and interence from video just drives me crazy... I currently have some small speakers that are shielded... but the video interence still gets through sometimes... its one of my peeves and I'd like speakers that have been shielded specifically against video monitors.

jd,

for that, those will do fine....id still tink youd get a better sound with a nice desktop home stereo system of about the same $$$$.....those Edirols are about 10wt per channel.....i like to crank it some times.....

I would be more worried of the speakers ,messing with the screen on your monitor.... Then I would be about the monitor introducing noise into your speakers..... Isn't there some way you can make them a bit further away.... I mean even 1 more foot would do it....

Then you don't have to worry about the sheilding.....
