Phys...send me that beat and I'll write a verse, spit it, and throw it back at you.

Fair warning: If you do this, the verse won't be really about anything (content wise) but should be enough to let you see where I'm coming from.

I would say keep practicing. When I first started rapping, I could write verses like a muthafucka, but I couldn't flow with it. I would listen to some mainstream rappers and try to emulate their wordplay in their songs. Here's my top 5 rappers for you to listen to in order to get it (some of ya'll might not agree with my choices but here we go).

1.2Pac/ B.I.G. (yes it's two but you gotta group them together)
2. D12 (except Bizarre) All of them have different styles and different ways of wordplay
3. Fat Joe (he doesn't rhyme that fast but his voice has character).
4. Xzibit (same applies)
5. Method Man/Redman (also had to group them together)

Now you have a SHITLOAD of different styles to learn from. Don't steal their styles....learn from them, there is a difference.

That's a pretty good list.... Especially the Method Man and Red Man...

by the way.. Royce Da 5 9 tore Eminem apart on "Bad Meets Evil"

Well I already listen to Pac like fuckin crazy...never really paid attention to his flow though, his lyrics are too..."captivating".

You're missing out of half of the good shit about Pac. Pac flows so smooth it's like he's talking just to you, not a stage full of people. It was done that way on purpose....check the difference between albums and live concerts he did. It's there...

Also, don't forget to check up on the others....you'll learn a LOT.

P.S. P, I would have went with "Picture Me Rollin"

Well yeah I guess I kinda lied a little...I most definitely noticed that Pac has the best flow out of anyone I listened to, but I never paid attention to it...I dunno it's hard to explain. But I'll defintely be payin closer attention to what I listen to now.

And how's that verse going?

i know im probably largely outspoken, but i dont really like tupac... one of the reasons being his flow - theres something missing in it - that along with his beats, they lack something which draws me in.. whereas as with someone like Big L, most of his tunes jus make me nod my head and listen, cos of his sick flow and live beats

Yeah, you're probably in a minority group, but of course.........You are entitled to your own opinion and I respect that!
With that being said, I thought Pac had a ridiculous flow. I think lyrics rolled off his tongue in one of the most naturalist forms I've ever heard. I think it may be a bit unfair to include his beats in the equation. (Although I know that is what catches most peoples ear initially) But that is a production issue! His production, for the most part, was sample based. Big L had the typical underground sound, as far as beats. But I MUST agree, some of the sickest lyrics I have ever heard. "I've been f'ckn chicks in the @ss since I was six and a half"......RIDICULOUS!!!!!
I can honestly say Big L, Biggie, and Papoose have been (3) MCees that have literally floored me with some of their lyrical content (Expression)
GOD BLESS THE DEAD!

I'm gonna agree with the whole not thinking tupac is that great thing. I can understand why some people would like him, but I think that there's a whole lot of people out there that say he's the greatest just because they hear other people say that. Folks don't wanna form opinions for themselves. Everywhere you go, there's people that say tupac is king, but I never hear anybody actually listening to his music. And if they are listening to tupac, they're probably listening to one of about 3 songs.

I think he's pretty good but far from the best ever. He's compared to biggie a lot and I think biggie blows him out of the water for flow and songwriting ability. A lot of people like tupac cause he did make a decent amount of songs that actually had a message to them, which I can respect. However, I still vote for "I Get Around" as my favorite.

big L is pretty much the best you could listen to if you want examples of a clean flow. Every line out of the man's mouth is perfect as far as hitting the beat goes. Lyrics are pretty hilarious as well.
