Can a 6" really reproduce accurate bass in a mix/master? I was thinking of getting a set of Tannoy Precision 6D to replace my RP8's
. In my opinion the RPs are the best value monitor under $1200/pr.

as I get it, the 6" doesn't go as low as an 8", but the mid freqs are there more than an 8...but this is theory and physics and all that. can you tell a difference? I don't know.
if you have mastered the RP8's, why start over learning new ones? RP8's are pretty well liked around here.
I think there's the near to midfield thing too, your room, how large is the triangle etc.. If you been with 8's why do you want to swap to a 6"?
My vote is 6"...but then I'm not generally recording heavy heavy bass and synths. I could live with an 8 too.....I think 5 and 4 a sub would need to round it out. imo.
I got to where Lightshadow62 is in that my mixes weren't doing anything with the subs. It sounds great and its a great check but it's back to my 3ft 6" YSM1P's and a bit of simplicity too, without the subs, crossovers for mixing and leveling etc... and I'm a lazy fhkr so less work is better.
I really like the KRK's....its a monitor company, years of doing it.
I'm still stuck between RP6 and RP8, since i'm only in a fairly small bedroom setup would the 6's be far more suitable for that environment?
