Occupy Starbucks - political protest from Greg

Yeah, Greg, as quickly as it came out, I absolutely loved it. Drum beat and fills coming in after the chorus kicks bootie. Lyrics are awesome, vocals are better than usual (and I like em' out front!), and everything else was a joy to listen to. The only thing I thought was rough was the counter guitar part playing really high. I think it played twice, and only for a measure or two. Sounded like it was thought of after-the-fact, and put in with a not-so-good performance. Other than that, dude... Kicks bootie. I think I might go listen again.

Thanks PI. I don't know what guitar part you're talking about. The whole thing is a not-so-good performance. :D

hahah this is pretty great Greg.

I'd fatten up the guitars a bit, maybe have a few more tracks to fatten it up.

other than that i liked it.

kicks a bit clicky for me, but nothing to complain about.

Do I detect a hint of cynicism? No need to change a thing, loved it all. I wish I could do this in a month, let alone an afternoon.

Thanks a lot guys. :)

I think the lyric "F*** you the government" sums up protest music as a whole pretty well.

Haha nice...I liked this one a lot. For one afternoon this is pretty darn impressive :D

Typing while I listen.... The words are little hard to make out in a few spots - they seem loud enough though so I'm not sure I'd mess with it too much. I think that's why they used to have lyrics printed inside the album as you could never know what they were saying - although on a CD they're too damn small... I'd edit out the drumstick drop - just my preference... Good overall - driving beat with killer guitars.

Thanks for listening guys. I was a little worried about the words being unintelligible, but my old lady listened with no clue what the song was about and she got it all, so I didn't worry about it anymore. The drumstick drop was just kind of funny to me so I left it. It's not me intentionally throwing sticks. It was a real flub and drop right at the end. I usually just set them down gently to not make any noise. :o

Heh heh, nice work man. Impressive output for an afternoon's work.

I like the drumstick drop ending - it sounds like you've taken the ending "let's go" very literally :D

dude ...... you do that double kick blast beat thing better than about anyone!

Neat song ..... vox sits well in the mix ..... seems a bit louder than you typically mix the vox and I prefer it this way.

Thanks a lot Lt Boob. That double-stroke on the kick is easier than it may seem. Like everything else, it takes a little practice, but with a good pedal setup and technique, they just jump out of your foot. Head rebound is important too. I need to practice them with my left foot though. I'm way slower with the left. If I can get my left to function like my right, I'd be able to do some pretty fast double-kick stuff. That would be a waste though because I don't do metal. :laughings:

What a nice treat to come back to after months of not giving any fucks about this place.

Great song Greg.

If i was gonna pick anything apart would be that solo-y lead-y guitar thing sitting off to my left. I would add just a wee touch of brightness to it. That's a me thing though. Like if were fortunately enough to to have time to sit and do something like that.

That's about it.

Your vox have come along way since the first track i ever heard of yours dude. Far more natural sounding.

Bravo....

Hey dude! Thanks a lot. Stick around and stop being a stranger-danger.

Try not to. Stranger Danger's are lame. haha. Aside from work i have been actually busy with an ACTUAL recording project... when it gets to a listenable point i will get at ya for advice as usual.
