Hi I have a NT1000 plugged into a Behringer Eurorack MX 602A mixer, which is then fed into my computer soundcard.

The mixer supplies the phantom power to the mic. I have been having problems where I will speak into the mic for a few minutes and it will then fade out. I then turn mic down for about 5 minutes and it then works again for a while.

In short my question is:

Should I leave the phantom power running always?? Or turn it off at night and when not using mic? Does it do damage to leave on?

Thanks for any help.

Dave

I have the 602a also...

I don't think it's a good idea to keep the mixer on all the time as it can get pretty hot.....

so far I have not problem using it's phantom power to powered my mic....

Sounds like something is wrong. My guess would be for the mixer. Maybe you can try your mic with another mixer/preamp and see if you get the same problem?

I don't think there is any reason at all to keep your mixer's phantom power on at all times.
