NT-5 and MXL 603s comparison....

So far..
Cosmetics... almost identical in size and diameter. The NT-5 is prettier, has a better clip and case, and overall conveys a better feeling of quality. Also costs more. Now whats important...
Sound... So far only having compared them QUICKLY on acoustic guitar, they are nearly identical, so much so that there really could be no choosing one over the other for this task in most cases.
Soon to compare the two on drum overheads and in different arrays and distances from acoustic.
Stay tuned. This will be extremely slow going as the Nt-5's are not mine and must be borrowed when available.

Tube... looking forward to the drum overhead comparison; I plan on buying a pair of 603s for OH's and acoustic guitars. Thanks for posting your findings!

Minimal findings they are... not much at all, and I wouldnt put much weight to them, not yet anyway. When we do overheads ( I a have a session scheduled to record a band in like 3 1/2 weeks) I will be able to post some clips. Thats if my equipment situation has been totally lined out yet.
Trying to obtain a Great River or some Neve-alike pre's.
