Hey all:

This song isn't exactly hip-hop (I'm not sure what the hell it is, actually) , but I'd still be real interested in getting some feedback from folks here. Most of my "songwriter" friends aren't too much into stuff that isn't either acoustic or rock n' roll-type stuff & this one doesn't really fall into either side.

Anyway, I've been reading the forum & there's some good ears here, so if you've got a minute, gimme hell...

Warning: for people with dial-ups the streaming doesn't work so well, so try saving it instead (sorry).

thanks much,
Chris

Chris,

I tried listening early in the week, but I was having trouble with the stream. I know you requested that we try to save the file first, but I have limited time to listen. I'm trying again now on this slow ass dial up.

Well, looks like I'll have to listen piece by piece as this buffering is taking forever. The organ/hi-hat intro is kind of catchy. Okay, now I'm into the verse. Hip-hop?? Definitely a different flavor for this board. I'm getting a blues club vibe from this, but with an R-n-B feel. A fellow smoker I see. I like the beat change here, right after the line "hope that joint wasn't dusted". I like the secondary vocals you have here, the female laugh and the line"but tonight she's my baby". Now the guitar solo section, for some reason this section reminds of Kid Rock's "Cowboy".

I don't have time to listen to the whole song but from the 1:30 or so I heard I'm liking this. Definitely a high quality recording here. Overall, I got a Kid Rock meets Smashmouth feel from this. I wouldn't call it hip-hop but a good tune none the less.

LOL , not hiphop at all ,but everyone likes to hear a good story

personal preference :too much low end presence. the bass get lost at time , i would bring it up some and decrease a notch my Hz on the low eq
really nice mix on my notebook speaker

Not my style to bump but I like it.

What would you call this still of music? I've head some stuff like it but don't really know how cats classify it.

Do ya thang dawg. Peace to ya.

Hey groucho, try posting this in the mp3 clinic. There's a whole other audience there. Not that you can't get good advice here, but your right... It ain't hiphop!

The song grooves! I really like the lyrics!:)

Heh, damned if I know... I'll letcha know if I ever figure it out.:)

Thanks much for taking the time to comment folks, especially since it ain't hip-hop. I do appreciate it. The reason I posted it here is I wanted to get input from a different group of music fans. I can't rap (& unlike a lot of other folks who can't I'm not gonna make an ass of myself trying). But I wrote this one after a stretch in LA when I was mostly hanging out with folks who dug hip-hop & by the end I was listening to a lot of it too.

So I guess this one is as close as I come...

Anyway thanks again,

Chris
