Everyone,

I am working in ambient/deep spacemusic. I am trying to find something that I can manipulate the hell out of my synth's sounds. I am NOT looking for effects (flanger, delay, etc), but something that will change tha actual sound. (Kind of what the filter knob does on my Roland). Any suggestions?

Or, is there a module out there that is good at producing 'spacey' and deep synth sounds?

Thanks,
Microchip

Check out Kurzweil synths.
The V.A.S.T. - Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology, is the exact thing your looking for.

The Sherman Filterbank is great for manipulating tones with it's filters, and a sequencer can record those moves in real time. You can buy used Electrix Filter Factory's for around $110 on Ebay and it is similar to the Sherman.

Those are very common tools used by techno, electronica, and space music artists. They are a good way to expand the possibilities of a digital synth.

This is very interesting to me. Like micro chip I am really into ambient and space music. Lately me and a couple cronies have been "jamming." One of my boys spins, one syncs up an arpg. w/ the Triton and I usually hope on the Triton for some spaced out effects and the occasional melody. I'm also in charge of all the tweaking which I usually do just by opening up cubase and implementing certain effects, and/or using Korg's Kaoss pad, which I am in love with BTW. I'm looking into modules that I can kinda play by tweaking the knobs and gives me a more integral and meaningful role in it all. Any suggestions for an all in one module that not ony has filters/cutoffs, but also a variety of cool effects, while still being in a modest price range(-500)? I guess this question just ended up being drivel but oh well.

lol.. how 'bout the alesis air Fx, laj.. supposedly that should be something, but since i've tried them, i can tell you it isn't.. you can't have it all i'm afraid and definitely not for 500-...
get an RS7000 and then you might be looking at something... but that's at least 1200$... so...
