Not been here in a while - new home recording for mix issues?

Hi

Not been here in a while - i forgot to bookmark and couldnt remember where you were!!

Anyway - recorded this the other week and wondered if you had a few mins for some mix feedback?

Its a kinda quirky/indie type thing

Wow, it sounds great. The drums should come up, and the vocals could be a tiny quieter. That's about it from me. Awesome job!
 
cool - i posted this as i keep updating it on soundcloud with little mix tweaks and thought id finally got there - but im certainly up for some outside influence

i thought the drums were about right, maybe a tad loud!? so saying they need to come up is interesting - i will see if i get any more feedback from other listening environments before making any changes

This is cute and different. The only place that I thought it sounded bad (please don't beat me) was the pad that comes in at about 1:38. Compared to everything else in the mix, this pad is just sorta noise. I think somthing clearer (alto sax ish) would improve this portion. Like the other comments I've seen - this is just a fun track, and fun to listen to. Thanks for sharing.
 
Nice - that right guitar is cool and present but not annoying. The synth pad is too fizzy, I'd like more of a caliope sound (although it has that somewhat now). I think the mix is pretty good - nothing I would say needs changing except on a personal taste level. Fun, catchy tune, well written and performed... :cool:
 
Hi - good stuff... I'm no fan of that synth sound either, think something clearer would work better... and I find some of the sybillance with the multi-track vocals a bit harsh, especially as it starts out with so many plurals.

Nice song though. Well done...

Thanks for the feedback - im not sure i agree with you all about the synth/pad sound - in fact i think its the thing thats keeping it from just being a ploddy normal song

in fact its a retro stylophone.... you know those little plastic pen things... i like to add different/unusual elements to my songs

Although saying that.... there does seem to be a lot of people in agreement of not liking it ...... hmmmmm
