Hey I posted a bit back and a few of you heard my bands song Twisted. I added some reverb to make it not quite so dry. I also brought the snare levels up and some other minor mixing things. Please listen and let me know if you think what I did helps or hinders.

The first mix is here -

The second is here -

I am pretty happy with the second version. Please keep in mind that this is for a demo to sound out in a press pack. It doesn't have to be absolutely flawless but I do want the best sound I can get. Oh yeah and those backup vocals in the end are going to be redone. They were done quickly so we could have the song done for a thing we entered into. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Man, I hate to say this, but I like the first one you did more!

Not just the volume difference either (the second is quite a bit quieter).

What are your options, how many seperate tracks? If it's all fairly seperate I'd try a few things.

- Pan the intro guitar further to the left.
- Make a copy of the intro guitar, place it on an adjacent track and add some reverb to it. Pan this track further right, and lower in volume (just enough to add some atmosphere) to add a bit of ambience. Drop the intro guitar a few dB and balance it with the ambient copy track.
- Overheads might be a touch loud, not super loud. Just a touch. Try dropping them 3 - 5 dB.
- Guitar solo is a few notches (maybe 3dB) loud. Pan it a bit further right, like 2:00.
- Bring up the vocals a notch. (few dB).
- End vocal backups are great.

These suggestions are based on the first mix you posted.

Also, something funny about the first few bass notes. If possible, try dragging them into time. picky picky. I dig the song.

And, JonX, I think I know who it reminds me of. Some Journey (or Foreigner I always get those mixed up). Problem is I can remember the song in my head, but can't remember the chorus... can't remember the name of the song. The lunacy continues.

BTW beezoboy, not suggesting it sounds Identical or anything. Just reminds me of it (whatever it is).
