Noob question please help me

Hi i am a total noob at MIDI. Sorry
Basicly i have just bought a MIDI cable and connected my Casio CTK-651 Keyboard to my computer using the cable with midi in/out and connection for a computer game port. Now i have it connected i have no idea how to send/recieve the MIDI data that i have either on my computer or keyboard. Can somebody please help me i know this is a really noob question but i need help
