and I have done it... I once recorded a band professionally using that technique... they had no complaints with their recordings...

I have a firepod now... all I'm saying is that you can get great recordings with that method.

i have done it as well. But to claim that you've recorded professionally in that manner is totally insane. there is nothing professional about recording (let alone recording a band) through the mic input on a laptop. NOTHING PROFESSIONAL AT ALL! The reason the band didn't have any complaints is most likely because they didn't know that they could sound better.

I did a whole CD project that way. My friends loved it and we all thought it was the best thing since sliced bread, then i bought a Tascam US122 and was amazed at the difference. I would go back and cringe listening to the old tracks. The better gear that I get, the more I realize how unprofessional i am.

Don't delude yourself into thinking you're a super producer... live in reality

I don't believe I'm a super-producer... I say professionally... because they paid me. Which... is the definition of doing something "professionally".

I am well aware that I have much left to learn... I've only been doing this for so long... and there is much experience left for me to have... but I now use a firepod... and in all honesty, the difference is not that great between the line in and the firepod... at least, it's beyond my ears.

you've got to be kidding me man. You are very likely in the wrong "profession" as you call it if you can't hear the difference between a firepod and a laptop mic input. The difference is astronomical.

I'm really not intending to insult you, friend. You just spout a lot of things in an ever so humble manner about things that you should really know better about if you claim to do what you do "professionally."

sAY IT AGAIN...PLEEEEEEEEASE?

Lol at this thread.

I use cubase LE, and I'm by no means a pro at anything, and I like the way my mixes usually sound. LE doesn't suck at all. Its simple and easy to use and gives good results.
