Hi !

I'm trying to record my bass guitar through Ableton Live. My recording setup is Active Guitar>> Passive DI>>Focusrite 2i2 Interface>>Computer (Using Ableton 8 Live that came with my interface). I'm monitoring through Sennheiser headphones for now.

The Issue:
When I'm playing my bass while recording on Ableton, the sound through the headphones is fine. But after I'm done recording, during playback I get this clipping sound. It's like the notes are getting clipped every few seconds. Could there be an issue with the I/O settings ? I have the Mono input selected as external input for recording. Am I missing something here ?

I've also tried recording my guitar through Audacity and the sound is perfect. So there don't seem to be any driver or hardware issues.

Urgent plea for help !

Is the 'clipping sound' recorded or only happening on playback?

Figured it out !

The guess the technical term of what I was experiencing would be crackling and it was present in the recording as well. It was an issue with the driver settings for Ableton. Even though I'd selected the Focusrite ASIO driver, it was using the MME driver since the ASIO was not loading properly. Reinstalled it and works fine now !
