i'm mixing a project using a Korg D16 standalone DAW and notice some noise on the vocal track. i'll be recording the final mix into Cubasis (the intro version of Cubase) later and want to be able to process the mix to remove the noise.
anybody know a good plug-in/software package to remove noise/hiss?

Cool edit pro can help u, only u have 2 select the parts that contains noise and reselct the entire wave form 2 remove the noise from it.
Also there is Sound 4G, Any many plugins from
http://www.SonicFoundry.com

thanks for the info! i'm surprised how costly the sonic foundry and steinberg noise reduction plugs are. know of anything for $100 or less?

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering how the noise got on the vocal track in the first place. I use a d16 and have not had that problem. Was everything recorded on the d16 or on something else and then transferred? In general, have you been pleased with the d16.

Also, you say you will transfer the mix to cubasis. Do you mean a stereo "mixdown" or each individual track?

i had the problem on a few spots when recording directly to the d16. at the time, i couldn't figure out why i was hearing noise on the line. maybe it was the cable, maybe the mic, maybe interference, and i hope not the d16.

overall, i'm very happy with the d16- it's an amazing box for its size and cost. the effects are good, i can't live without the scene automation, and the editing features work well. the main drawbacks i feel are the puny hard drive and that there are only 12 rather than 16 faders.

the other problem i've faced is exporting a multi track mix to a .wav. you're supposed to able to do it with version 2 but i can't get it to work with my Orb drive. so, as a result, i have to record my multi track mixes into Cubasis to create .wavs and .mp3s.

Hey buddy - it costs the manufacturers big bucks to do the research and development needed to supply s/w tools to the recording industry - they deserve to get paid for it. Your piracy ISN'T appreciated here...

Help them (if that is how you rationalize it) via private e-mail.

Hmmm... I need Meyer HD-1 monitors - can you steal a pair for me??

If u accept to take it from me and u know that its a stolen one... Maybe u have to steal it by urself!

HUH??? Are you talking????

The concept is simple... the manufacturer spends money to develop high-quality recording software. The recording industry buys it from the manufacturer, the manufacturer makes some money on it, some of which gets used to build more and better recording software - except that because of piracy from guys like you freely passing the stuff around, the manufacturer CAN'T AFFORD to make more products to do the jobs we all need them to do....... NOW DO YOU GET IT?????????????? *sheesh*

And since I earn a portion of my income FROM the recording industry, I for one DON'T appreciate the piracy from guys like you!

Cheers,
Bruce

Thankx 4 this a advice

I do appreciate everyone have this cerebration!
But some of us dont be able to buy the great software that the manufactures developed it.

I dont encourage here the piracy. But it'll not harm the manufacture if we exchange this programs, at least the market will still at it's state. Cuz we dont have the money to buy again another software. DO U GOT WHAT I MEAN?
But there is another proplem if the companies did that & steal this programs. They have to buy it cuz they r working by it.

Cheers,
Hashoma

So... it's OK to steal things as long as you're poor???
No.. sorry - that excuse is not going to fly....

Anyways, enough... you do what you have to do.
