Just another guy, really.
I posted, months ago, first about getting some soapbars and wondering what they sound like, and then about buying a used lefty Greg Bennett Les Paul... well, today I FINALLY put them together. I finally have a guitar with soaps! (That's why it's a "New Old Gear Day.") Played it a bit, back to back to back with my Epi LP with Gibson Burstbucker Pro/Alneco 5's, and my Westone Thunder 1A. The soaps have less output than the HB's, of course, and they sound a bit more "smoky" to me.
What took me so long? I got stuck on finding beauty rings to cover up the bigger routs for the HB's. Finally realized, hey, that's just looks, soaps mount by screwing to the back of the rout. Had to make some spacers- the routs are too deep- but once I got started, it got done in just a couple of hours.
Here's a pic from the net- mine is lacking the pickguard and has soaps, of course, but you get the idea.
