Hey Everybody,
Please check out "Nobody's Gettin' Out Alive" at:

I posted a lot of questions at Home Recording.com, and got a LOT of good advice.......Now I need to find out from all of you if I actually took your advice! Let me know what you think. Thanks for your time.

hi ricrac,

The mix sounded good, except that all the instruments really had too much high end from about 5k.

I suggest you take some of the high mids and highs from the stereo file.

I liked your singing too.

Hey buddy,

I gotta agree on the hi's on this. It sounds like you were trying to overcompensate for the muddled sound MP3's often have. I LOVE This song, tho'. I think I'll go download this puppy!

thanks for listening

Hey guys,
Thanks for listening. Is the high end distracting or is it a matter of taste? I was going for a real thin rythem(spelling?) sound. It's funny, because whem I mixed it using Event PS6 monitors I got what I thought was a good sound. Then I played it through my regular stereo speakers....figuring this is what most people will hear the song through...and there was too much low end, and not enough high end. I kind of wanted the high end to drive the song. So I'm kind of confused. I'm trying to make demos to sell songs. In your opinion should I pull this song from my site and fix it or is the high end tolerable in your opinion? Again, thanks for the critique

I think the high end probelm in this mix is very distracting, you should fix it.

I used WinAmp's EQ, here's what I found that sounds good on my system...

16 Khz -19.4 dB
14 Khz -19.4 dB
12 Khz -8.6 dB
6 KHz -7.9 dB
3 KHz +4.8 dB

Everything else flat. Sounds good. Would like to hear more "meat" on the right, sounds like a 12-string through a tweeter, mic'd, and run through a tweeter again.

More kick, definitely, and whatever you gotta push to get the kick to sound balanced.

You've got a great background group there, you oughtta show 'em off in a song or two. Maybe the ol' cowboy "Owoooooooo.... Owooooooo...." just by themselves, with a bit of reverb, and a campfire track underneath (yes, as in record a campfire and insert it).

Can dig it, but then again, I'm Texan... :D
