No Signal in Record Mode-VS1880

I have a VS-1880 and things seemed to be going okay with it until one evening when I went to add a vocal track. I put the machine in record/pause mode and could hear the signal coming into the recorder, but when I hit play and started the recording process, no signal was evidently layed down.
Anybody else have this problem?

Are you in "source" mode? Perhaps that mught be it? Or is your input assigned to that track?
