no signal from condenser mic

Phantom power is on, pad lifted, gain maxed, other mics create perfectly recordable signal. I can literally record a track with a different condenser mic, plug in this one, and get nothing at all. And I sent the mic back to Karma and they told me that nothing was wrong with the mic...
 
Yo Tony-Bobs! I feel your pain. Here's a random observation. I had the same problem with a couple of Oktava mics and eventually figured out that the specs on the XLR connectors were slightly different, and the mics (both of them) wouldn't work with certain cables. I switched to B.L.U.E. Kiwi quad cables (also made in Eastern Europe) and all was good. The other cables worked fine with other mics. They weren't bad cables, just slightly different. Not all XLR connectors were created equal. It may not help you, but it's worth checking out.-Richie

just to update in case anyone finds this thread in a search, I took the mic to our local arts center and they let me hook it up to their system. Bam! no problems! So I decided that it must be a problem with the phantom power coming from my 8pre. I ordered and ART tube mp for MF and all of a sudden, it works! Thanks for everyone who helped! I'll be doing a review of the K35 soon!
 
It is probable that the K35 has a current draw at the higher end of the range, and that your interface wasn't capable of supplying that much power. The solution, as you have already figured out, is to use a preamp that is capable of powering the mic.
