Hi Guys,
I have an interesting TSR8 problem. My deck enters FF mode when I press RW.
I had taken it apart to adjust the brake tension because it was coming to a gradual halt after pressing RW.
After adjusting the brake tension I decided to go after the squeeking noise in the reel motors.
I dissasembled, cleaned, oiled, and reassembled the reel motors. No more squeek !
However, in the process I "kinked" the break band for the take up reel table.
I was able to retension the brake fairly close to spec so I didn't think it was a big deal.
Now, My transport is all screwed up !
Gaaah !
In play, the tape spews off the machine due to different speeds of the reel motors. FF sort of works but runs out of control. AND RW acts like FF !
I thouht it might be tape tension, so I removed the reels and applied pressure to the tension arms while running the transport buttons. RW still rolls in the FF direction.
Any Ideas ?
I have the manual but I am not sure where to start.
Thank You,
Forrest
