no hiss, no hiss

hey all, i'm usually over in the microphone forum trying to sort that side of things out...well it just so happens that now that that problem is sorted i've realised another one.... my soundcard (generic - i know, i know:() is noisy as hell.
if i press record without any cables or mics or preamps attached there is a high frequency buzz recorded.
the only way to get rid of this buzz is to turn the wave and volume faders all the way off on my computer. :(
there is another way though and it's called buying a new soundcard.
what's the best way to go considering i eventually would like to have multiple inputs but if the cost of that is too prohibitive a good solid low noise soundcard would work superfine for now! I've been looking around and the M-audio Audiophile 2496 looks like it fits the bill for the moment BUT is it true that there is no headphone port on it?

thanks for any help..

(why is your sound always almost right?)
