I think I got over my head when I installed FL7, but here goes...
(1) Can someone walk me through the basic set up of audio and MIDI? I have a Terratec DMX 6Fire 24/96 sound card, that supports ASIO drivers. I do not have any external hardware connected to my PC - keyboards, controllers, etc. The Midi set up options for MIDI OUTPUT has the following options:
(1) MIcrosoft Midi mapper
(2) DMX 6Fire Midi
(3) DMX 6Fire WaveTable
(4) Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth
The Midi set up options for Midi INPUT are
(1) DMX 6Fire Midi
(2) DMX 6Fire Wavetable
Which ones do I select?
(2) I have selected ASIO drivers and the when I select the "Show ASIO panel" there is a green note next to the "DMX 6Fire 24/96" sound card. I guess this is okay...
(3) I can import a simple midi file and it seems to load in the channel window, but when I click the play button in the transport - no sound. I think I need to somehow link the channel window to the mixer.. How do I do this? The mixer also asks for selections for "IN" and "OUT"
For "IN" I have the following choices"
(1) (none)
(2) DMX 6Fire Wave 1 - DMX 6Fire Wave 2
(3) DMX 6Fire Wave 1
(4) DMX 6Fire Wave 2
(5) stereo and mono are greyed out
For "OUT" I have the following choices"
(1) DMX 6Fire Wave 1 - DMX 6Fire Wave 2
(2) DMX 6Fire Wave 3 - DMX 6Fire Wave 4
(3) DMX 6Fire Wave 5 - DMX 6Fire Wave 6
(4) DMX 6Fire Wave 7 - DMX 6Fire Wave 8
(5) none
(6) stereo is greyed out
Which do I select and how do I map the channel window to the mixer to get sound?
By now you are likely rolling your eyeballs... Geez, how dumb do they come...
What I really want to do is to play those midi files I download from the internet and then to sing along with them and record my singing with the midi to a wave or mp3 file.
