Hey wuts up everyone,

I am totally new and know nothing about home recording but i am very determined to turn my basement into a recording studio. I am gonna do Hip Hop, so if anybody is kind enough to give me a walkthrough or outline on everything i need and have to do i would be very thankful.

P.S. I am on a kinda low budget.

Welcome to this BBS, Kickin49. :)

First of all, you should do some searches, on your topic.

There is a myriad of information here.

Do some reading, then ask any of us some questions. :)

peace .....

there is no such thing as good hip hop.. so change your taste of music and come back later...

... hehehehehe... :D

or buy a mixer, a mic or two, an e-mu soundmodule, a turntable or two, a bunch o' records, and you'll be kickin' in no time (if you have talent that is :) )

Welcome to the bbs...

The biggest piece of advice I can give to a newbie is.. Don't go out and get a loan and then run out and purchase a shitload of gear...

In a year when you are much improved and knowledgable, you will be kicking yourself in the ass for the gear choices you made..

Just get a cheap modest set up..... Don't spend over $1000 (for EVERYTHING) in this first year..

It's alot of work to jump into hip hop... as simple as hiphop sounds to all of us, there is alot of programing and sampling and purchased samples being used...

It's alot more than just buying a keyboard and drum machine....You will need to learn sequencing and programming.. and sound creation on a synth, and how to edit samples......
That doesn'te ven include learning the actual recording....

It takes time.. some of us have been doing it for years and years, and still aren't at our best...

I still think it's a great Idea and im happy to see people getting into home recording.....

Just be patient and slowly learn as you go....

Joe
