newbie needs help

help me hook up this stuff.
424mkIII
reciever with tape ins and outs and aux ins with monitors
standalone cd recorder(philips 775)

I've tried a few hook ups, even like the manuals say, and can only
get very low volume to the cd recorder. The 424 input meters are
where they need to be and playback sounds great thru the monitors. cd recorder works great with pre recorded cds. It seems like for some reason the signal is not getting to the cd recorder like it should. I didn't want to start putting plugs just anywhere before getting some advice.

there is a way to adjust the analog input level on the cd burner but I don't remeber how and I no longer have my philips burner. Check your owners manual.
 
It seems as if you already problem solved your question. :)

It is probably the analogue adjustment on your Philips unit, like Carter Simcoe previously stated.
