newbie idea on inserts

hey.. i have a behr. mixer... and i was planning on usin my rnc on the main out... but in stead... when recording drums.... could i do this... i use about 6 or 7 mics to mic the set... could i have hte L on the rnc go to hte insert one. and the R go to insert 2 .. which i would make snare and kick.. since they are most inconssistent

if your rnc is stereo in, stereo out you can certainly do this. I've done it many times with stereo units.

...with the exceptions that the setting for one may not be good for the other -particularly the threshold setting and that the amount of gain reduction will also depend on the relative record volumes and gains of the two inputs. After that, you might find that one tends to punch 'holes' in the other.
It seems like a lot to juggle just to get some double-duty compression.
