well i was just wondering COZ I REALLY DONT KNOW...is it possible to record your music through your PC? using your electric guitar, drums, and keyboard and other instruments i will be needing to make music. is it possible to plug the electric guitars and keyboard? what will i need then?
and ofcourse i will have to embed my voice then...

my comp is only:
AMD Duron XP1800+
128MB ram
40gb
what do i need to upgrade?

the reason why i want to record our music through pc is because we're always forgetting the songs we make hahaha...and that there's no music studio or recording studio near our place...thanks for helping guys...

At the very least, double your RAM(though 512 mb would be much better.)Some variation of a Soundblaster will do for a soundcard.

Hi If you need to record a few things you'll need a small mixer ( you can also use this for rehersals)

Go into the mixer then into the sound card (outputs from mixer, jacks, to the line in on your sound card, don't use the mic in!).

This will allow you to test the results and record your takes for later.

You may find that your internal sound card is ok for this untill you get used to this type of recording, then yopu can upgrade.

cheers

Digital recording can get very complicated and very VERY expensive. If you only want to record to be able to remember your songs, you might be better off just using a tape recorder or something cheap.

N tracks

HI
Yes you can but something like N tracks is cheap enough to allow you to
record easily enough and then grow as you learn more.
We all start with just recording our songs but end up wanting to make them better.

Just use the sound card on your pc with n tracs and you have a nice pc setup.

Run to amazon.com and type "Home Recording" in the search bar.

Get a basic book of recording for $15-20

You will save hundreds or thousands of dollars in getting set up and save yourself LOTS of frustration and time.....

or just look though this site, there is literally every question anwsered here!

how much do you want to spend? Check to see if your built in card has line in. built in card dont sound very good when you record with them. how ever you might have a pc that its card may sound kind of clean. good enough to get your idea recorded. If its got line in(blue color code, or a symbol of a speaker with an arrow pointing away from it) then got to the control panel and select the sound and audio devices. then open it. or open the volum control on the bottom of your screen. the go to options, properties, then AJUST VOLUME FOR and select recording and check the box that says line inand click ok. now you can use the line in. It's stereo. just hook up the line out of you equipment . you can use adaptors to change the end of the cable to a stereo 1/8" connector. There is some freeware recording softaware out there. If your newbee then try the freeware. I have not tried the freeware though. some here can recommend some. The hook up is easy. but the recording software is a little harder. not to hard though. If you want a little better quality with out breaking the bank get a soundblaster card with line in. Its cheap.

I have found that built in sound cards are nearly impossible to dub. If you record one track, say drums, then play the drum track while recording a new track, your guitar,it does a mix. You get a second new track with both drums and guitar. Only way I have gotten around this is get a motherboard without a sound card built in.
