I am having trouble recording from my PC to my Hi-Fi VHS. I have a new VCR (JVC HR-S3900U, TDK XP Super Pro tape for S-VHS, new SoundBlaster Live sound card.

I have tested the audio from the pc through the VCR to an LCD projector with a speaker and it sounds fine.

During playback the video comes out great but the audio has a hissing sound. I have turned all outputs off on the pc except for pc vol and wav vol. Do I need to go to a higher end VCR or am I using the wrong tape? I'm simply lost.

Thanks for helping.

This may sound stupid, but it's not a problem with Dolby is it? Also, is it possible that your content has too high a frequency range? Thus causing disortion on the tape?

I dunno,

Just a suggestion. :D

try using standard vhs
check your cable quality.
record in SP mode

thats a tough one, im probably wrong but it cant hurt

Thanks for your help!

Thank you for responding to my problem. I created a couple of test tapes adjusting the pc master vol and wav volume and apparently that is what was causing my problem. My pc vol was too high. I set the pc vol low and wav high. Thanks again for helping a newbie!!!
