Hello,
I dont have any midi devices.(keyboards)I have CW2004,and a delta 1010lt sound card How do I get midi sounds out(through) my sound card?
CW has a metranome that can be set to midi out or the pc speaker .I want to use the Midi out so I can change the sound and level. Excuse my lack of Midi knowledge, I've only recorded audio up to this point.
Thanks
Mike

The MIDI out on your sound card would only sent MIDI data, meaning you would need to plug a Keyboard or sound module into it via MIDI cable to make a sound...

The other option you have is the Edirol VSC. Check it out in the manual/help file on how to set it up. It is a software version of the Sound Module.

If you have patience you can also use the keyboard view and use some assingned keys to 'write' your MIDI tracks. That's very hard working though.

A couple of things:

Did you run the Wave Profiler in Cakewalk? Since you have never recorded midi before you may need to do this. You normally do this whenever you change soundcards.

Check your Output on the midi track? It should be your soundcard. I know I get MPU401 and I get no sound. I then redirect the output through Edirol VSC as stated above or use Microsoft Wavetable synth(although you may get some latency or delay).

The CW manual has a section on setting up the Edirol VSC if you decide to go that route.

Good Luck.

Cakewalk will only let you use "regular" metronome function with either one listed on Options-->MIDI Device list. You cannot use DXi as metronome out in regular way. To do so, you need to "sequence" beat with Piano Roll View, and assign the MIDI track to (for example) Edirol VSC. Then it will act as metronome. Or you can use pre-recorded audio as metronome.
