Damn! I like this song!! Kinda wish the vocal goes a little more distorted/agressive at around 4:30, and a little more bass in the kick. It sounds like a box right now.....
I am not sure if the vocals are peaking or it's an effect. But, I really like this tune. Hopefully others will offer more helpful advices on the mix. I would love to hear it with better quality. Not a bad job tho. Awsome vocals!

Nice melodic tune.I dont know a whole lot about frequencies in the mix etc. but maybe someone with some smarts will give you some advice. One thing that does stick out to me in the mix is that it is really "high frequency" heavy and the high high hat might work better on quarter notes instead of eighths,But what do I know?!

I like it.:)

I like this tune.

I few recommendations.

-Everything seems really soft, no real attack on any track (vocals, drums, guit) light attack of each instrument I mean.

-Like A1A2 said, the kick could have a little more strength. It would help to drive the beat along starting at 0:07 to 0:40 then ease up a little on it. Not much, just to help the vocals.

-0:40-0:50 lower the kick and hold the rythym with the snare

-The kick plateau's throughout the song. Accenting the beats to help out the inflection of the vocals would help out. i.e

She said to me
----kick----kick

Keep the kick part as it is, just accent like above. I think it would add a little more push without throwing the song off.

I like how this song is really mellow. Excellent

ya, my mixing skills are crappy at best. I think I got a little carried away with the stereo delay in protools. To give it a bit "fuller" sound, I've been using that, and it comes out sounding like it's being played through a little metal box. I've think I've got to use less effects and use the pan nobs more...maybe a little eq work.

Another problem I've got is I've been using drum a machine...until just a mater of days ago, I didn't know how to program it...so I've just been using a simple repetitive loop. Not only have I been using just a loop, but I don't even have it in stereo on that recording, so I used stereo delay again to beef that up. I think another part of my problem is the fact that I am using a drum machine as little more than a metronome. There's no difference from one part to another. Once I get that drum machine working to it's potential (or dare I say use a real drummer), I might have some better separations of different sections.

any other advice out there?

it feels like a good tune, but it's missing some pizzaz.

Nice tune. I really like the vocals -- there's some serious balls there, for a 'soft' song. The break at 2:10 works well.

What effect did you use on the vocals?

I use the drum tracks on a keyboard, so I know about limitations, but keep writing cool tunes and good luck w/the drum machine.
