Well to start off with what I do now, is making some MNML (minimalistic trance) with some screamo tracks.

My problem: No great mic (no cash)

So the question is: Are there any apps. for my computer that I can get this grain sound on the screamo tracks? I don't really got the cash for a Shure mic or anything like that. Just wanna know if there are any apps at all?

Would be really great for some help here :)
Great forum btw ;)

I completely understand budget recording however sugar coating the tracks will not make then sound the way you want them too I can probably help you find a mic on your budget if you can tell me what you budget is

Well.. I'm from Norway so I guess like.. hmmm.. in dollars it must be around, 100 dollars a month. I know it's not much, but I'm just 17 years old too. I got one track where I actually tried to make my voice bend to get more grain on it. Had a heck of a problem talking for 1 weak after that :/

I don't know what software you are using to record with but you might try a usb microphone experiment with mic placement when you get a decent sound use an eq on the track I am not sure what kind of you voice you have but you might find your self cutting some of the lows out of the track...I am not sure if that is what you are wanting to know but if you have anyting else to ask me or anyone else on here there are alot of great people on here to talk to here are some I know of that are really good that would give you some advice look out for nl5, rami, or greg they are great at recording and they would give you better advice then I could

Well, I always am happy for any help :)
Currently I'm adding my synth, drum n'bass with Cubase.
My brother are working on a store where they got apps. So no problemo for me to get some good ones :) So any program help will do.
I got the Guitar Hero World Tour with aswell.. it got a awesome quality with no grain actually :p so need something to help me ;) Like a app :)

I think you are talking about a dist vocal track but not completey sure if so try playing around with the eq if still not good enough try freeamp it is a free vst plugin

Thanks for the help dude :)
Will try to do it that way then :p
I can also take answers from more people if someone wanna :)

Well, you have given me the best answer I've got so far :)

Not a bad idea on a $100 budget. Audio-Technica and MXL both make some decent USB mic's for around $100 (AT-2020 USB and the MXL 008, respectively).

For scream vocals, you might think about a nice quality used dynamic mic, like an SM58 or similar, and pair it with an inline preamp such as a Blue Icicle. This wouldn't be most folk's first choice, but if you're really screaming at it, you might find that the dynamic mic will handle it better. If you get something like a USB-powered condenser (such as the two I mentioned above), you'll need to put some space between you and the mic. Get up on the grille and scream into it, and you're likely to severely distort the mic.

Thanks for the answer :)
We had some SM8 mics at the school actually.. So I'm going to lend one for home recording :) looking forward to it ;)
Thanks for all the help I've got so far :)
