I have had a lexicon core 2 (4in/8out) soundcard for about two years running on windows 98, it can only run on 98. I have just got a new computer and a delta 1010, and I'm not sure what OS to put on it. I'd assume the 1010 would work best with XP. Could I put 98 on the new computer and use both soundcards (12in/16out)? Or would this cause problems?

I would say forget about the old soundcard and install WinXP if your machine is up to it. IMO it's better to have one card running smooth than two running av 50%...

I am having major problems loading the card on my computer. I have the computer up and running with XP, and I dowloanded the latest driver for XP from the m-audio site. What now???? I've extracted the drivers and it's telling my it can't open the control panel??? :(

To answer your question: yes, you can run Delta under Windows 98.
When you turn new box on, does the OS find "new hardware"? If it does, then the problem most likely with the drivers installation. If it doesn't, then the card is probably not sitting correctly.

Okay I have the card in and it's recording in CEP, BUT I have one more problem. I'm recording through input 1 and I've selected to moniter out of outputs 1&2, but when I'm recording I can't hear anything while I recording. When I stop and listen I hear it though? I've selected everything in the moniter control screen and made everything as loud as it can be and unmuted everything, so why can't I hear what I'm recording while I'm recording it???

It seems like you need to tweak some sound monitoring settings inside CEP. You hear no sound probably because no signal is set to be sent to out1/2 during recording.

You will not succesfully record with both cards if they have no way of syncing their internal clocks used to set sampling rates.

If you recorded a track on each card at the same time, they would eventually drift apart.
