New Studio From Scratch "HELP"

Ok Im buliding a new home studio and need some feed back,I will be doing simple studio work, 16 tracks at the most I think. I have lots of options but need help. I could get a all in one Studio System like :Boss BR-1600CD 16-Track Digital Studio Multitrack Recorder, Or I could buy a new computer and get DigiDesign with ProTools software. Since Im investing I am kind of torn on the set up. Ive been shopping online and there is so much to choose from. Can I possibly get some feedback from you guys out there.

i'd go the standalone route at first. much less of an investment.
the yamaha AW16G is a good one.
and i just happen to have one for sale!
