New Song over compressed or not?

Hey guys, I have beed trying to figure out this mastering software, and have been trying to make my tunes as loud as possible with out making them sound over commpressed, but I really don't have an ear for what over compressed sounds like. Would just like feed back on if the song sounds to compressed or not. This song is a little differnt for me, it starts out with just and acacpella part and then the song starts. The song is called
"Be Somebody" it is kinda a "roll with the punches" song.

the recording sounds good.. I thought it was over compressed in the intro, but once the guitar came in it was better.. you probably could back off the compression a little because it is close to being pinned.. the vocals are a little sibilant in a few spots, but nothing some minor deessing wouldn't take care of..
 
Agree with mr. Sabbath (may I call you B.?) here...and I must say I'm not too fond of too much maximizer....

But if you're aiming for airplay, the louder the better I guess. :)
 
Hey telefunkster...nice tune!!

I agree w/ the above comment re: overcomping the intro. You might be a touch over compressed on the lead vocs too.... but im not one to judge that badly, 'cause i do it too. it doesnt sound bad mind you.... ...just getting over critical because you asked.
......most importantly though... NICE Tune. I enjoyed the listen

Thanks guys, I think the main thing that bugs me is that you can almost here this tune about ready to peak out. I may remaster it this week. I think the last chorus sounds the worst.

One more thing on the intro... The heavy reverb was ok, but maybe just a bit too much. I'd back off the wet mix a bit I'd say. Harmonies sound real smooth and nice.

Real cool bass sound.

Some VERY minor things. The word "got" at 1:58 has a little click in it. Is it cut and pasted? I hear it again at 4:13 for example. Small plosive at :16.

Good sound. Trip...
