Actually, on second thoughts, don't worry ! :D
 
One thing you could try is putting some gaffer tape on the beater head, when doing this you have to pinch loops into it (about 1/4 of a cm tall). It doesn't need to be overly long. I do this for almost all of my drums as it dampens down the resonance. I use a steel snare and the ring on that is unbareable without tape on it.
 
The snare sounds great!!!!

the reso head is an almost new evans 300 hazy. I swapped out the 20-strand with a 30 and it rocks! I don't have to beat the shit outta the thing to get it to sound like a snare, which helps my inconsistancy issues bigtime!

I bought a coated powerstroke 3 but didn't put it on. There's a coated ambassador on it now with no more than 5 hours on it.

It's sounding way better already.
